Each centre is staffed with qualified medical officers, experienced nurses, and offers on-site pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and sonography services—ensuring seamless, patient-centered care.

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Locum Home Health Nurse to join our Home Care Health Services team.


Position Summary for Locum Home Health Nurse

The Locum Home Health Nurse provides safe, compassionate, ethical, and evidence-based care within the community. This role supports patients and families in their home environment, enhances continuity of care, ensures patient safety, and improves clinical outcomes. The nurse will conduct comprehensive assessments, administer medications, coordinate care teams, advocate for patients, and provide holistic support throughout the care continuum.


Key Responsibilities of Locum Home Health Nurse

Clinical Care & Assessment

  • Perform comprehensive patient and environmental assessments for home care needs.
  • Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with clinicians.
  • Coordinate and implement patient care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation).
  • Administer medications and perform clinical procedures such as:
    • Vital signs monitoring
    • IV cannulation and IV drug/fluid administration
    • Accessing ports
    • Phlebotomy
    • Specimen collection and handling

Patient Monitoring & Support

  • Monitor physiological, physical, and emotional responses to treatment.
  • Identify early warning signs and escalate appropriately.
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust care plans with the primary clinician.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families through disease progression, symptom management, advanced care planning, and end-of-life care.
  • Educate patients and caregivers using clear, adaptable communication and the teach-back method.

Safety, Compliance & Documentation

  • Conduct initial and routine safety checks to maintain a safe home care environment compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of biological and hazardous materials.
  • Manage and maintain accurate patient records for each home visit.
  • Report and support investigations of all near-misses, incidents, accidents, and complaints.
  • Oversee inventory management and ensure availability of adequate clinical supplies.

Requirements

  • KRCHN / RN / BScN from a recognized Nursing School or University.
  • Valid licensure from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Minimum 3 years of continuous clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing.
  • Experience in oncology, home care, or palliative care is an added advantage.
