Job Summary
The Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients, promoting health education, and supporting clinical services across various hospital departments. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with doctors, clinical officers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in accordance with the hospitalโs policies and nursing standards.
- Monitor and record patientsโ vital signs, administer prescribed medications, and observe reactions or side effects.
- Assist doctors during medical procedures, examinations, and ward rounds.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the hospital information system.
- Promote preventive and community health education among patients and families.
- Offer emotional support and guidance to patients and their families throughout treatment.
- Ensure proper infection prevention and control practices are followed at all times.
- Prepare and maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Participate in ward meetings, continuous medical education (CME), and staff training programs.
- Handle emergency cases promptly and refer appropriately when necessary.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and service efficiency.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be a Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN) with a valid license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
- Diploma or higher diploma in Community Health Nursing from a recognized training institution.
- Minimum of 2 yearsโ experience in a busy hospital setup (experience in inpatient, outpatient, or maternity unit is an added advantage).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to multitask and work effectively in a team environment.
- Compassionate, ethical, and committed to delivering patient-centered care.
- Proficient in basic computer applications and medical record systems.
